Alderman Tom McNamara, candidate for Rockford mayor in 2017, and Holly Sias from the Rockford IceHogs joined us. Holly brought us up to speed on IceHogs events, including Bomber Hat night on 12/21/16, and we talked about her history in sports reporting.

Alderman McNamara told us what a McNamara mayoral administration would do to make it easier to start a small business in Rockford, combat crime, bring jobs to the area, retain talent, improve neighborhoods, and more. He talked about the current City Council’s success in reducing the property tax levy, creating ownership incentives for distressed homes, and assessing TIF deals, as well as the number of mayorally-appointed board positions that are vacant or past-due for reappointment. The Alderman also shared how his experience as an alderman informs his understanding of relationship and coalition building and would help him be a better mayor.

Then, Caleb, Jim, and Jeff talk about Stroll on State attendees, this week’s crimes, the Cubs’ trophy coming to Rockford, the opportunity for Sunil Patrick Harris to care for you in your elder years, John Guevara’s vote recount, Magic Mike Dunn, Rockford’s uptick on a best cities list, the 12 Bars of Christmas Pub Crawl, Fairdale’s Mean Monkey. Jim gave a Rockford IceHogs update.

Upcoming guests include:

12/21/16: Ald. Venita Hervey and aldermanic-candidate Aaron Tokarz

12/28/16: County Board Member Eli Nicolosi and Loves Park aldermanic-candidate David Soll

1/4/16: County Board Chairman Frank Haney

1/18/16: Mayoral Candidate Rudy Valdez

Producer Jake “The Snake” Morgan provided a RoboVikings update.
