Today’s guest is brilliant documentary filmmaker, who did everything she could not to become a.. wait for it : FILMMAKER. Alexandra Dean, a journalist and now director, has storytelling in her blood. Her father, uncle and brothers all make films, and when the recession eliminated her journalism job at PBS, she took to the camera. She made a documentary called BOMBSHELL, about an Austrian actress, Hedy Lamarr.
Her next doc, THIS IS PARIS, came about after Paris watched BOMBSHELL and asked Alexandra if she would make a doc about her… now you have to listen to our conversation, then watch the doc to find out the rest.
Ok one last detail – Paris’s story is surprising and centers around her trauma from years spent at a school for troubled teens called Provo Canyon.
