This is a short daily podcast, in which we go through an exegesis of the gospel from the current day's Mass. The Catholic Church teaches that in order to understand the Scriptures, we must start with the literal sense - in other words, how the original hearers of the text would have understood it. That is our aim in this podcast - to help understand what the gospel writers (and more importantly, Jesus) were intending to communicate in today's reading, as well as providing links to the Catech ...

"Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while." These words of Jesus Christ are an invitation to personal and intimate prayer. The meditations offered in this podcast are intended to help the listener enter into his own prayerful relationship with God. By reflecting on scenes from the Gospel, on other passages from Scripture, and on the insights of saints and spiritual writers, we can strengthen our faith in Jesus and our love for God. In the Gospel of John, Jesus says, "I ha ...

He is considered by many evangelical leaders today to be an authority on biblical truth and the sufficiency of Scripture. Dr. Lloyd-Jones’ principal ministry was at Westminster Chapel, in central London, from 1939-1968, where he delivered multi-year expositions on books of the bible such as Romans, Ephes ...

God's word has changed my life and my passion is that people would understand and obey it. The truth of Scripture has the ability to "renew our minds," "give us joy," and "transform us into the image of Christ." In this series I will be walking sequentially through the Gospel of John with the goal of highlighting the context, themes and applications from the text. In doing so, the hope is that we would "believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God" and love Him more. Follow along each weekday!

The Apocalyptic Gospel Podcast explores the Gospel as a first-century Jew would have understood it. A conversation about the Gospel, the Kingdom of God, or the Day of the Lord in the first century would have evoked a body of ideas not immediately present with a simple word study of these terms. In this weekly podcast, Bill, John, and Josh mine the Torah, Biblical Prophets, and Second Temple writings for the origin and development of these ideas as we help give context to this first-century J ...

This podcast was created due to a lifelong call to preach God’s Holy Word, but has become a daily intimate journey with the living God. It started with Season One, “The Isaiah Series," featuring the first seven chapters of the Book of Isaiah. “The Back to Basics Series" interrupted The Isaiah Series, featuring the entire book of First John; this was a raw look at the foundation of the Gospel message. Season Three returned back to the Isaiah Series and continues to build upon each chapter. It ...

St. John the Baptist is an Orthodox Christian church of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North and South America. We are located in Beaverton, Oregon (Portland westside). Most of what we upload are the weekly Sunday homilies, mainly offered by Fr. Theodore Dorrance and Fr. Timothy Pavlatos. Each recording begins with intonations of the appointed Epistle and Gospel readings. We cite the Gospel reading in the sermon title, as this is the passage on which the sermon is usually based. We trust ...

As part of the Acts 29 Network of Churches (www.acts29network.org) we believe that our mission has been clearly communicated by our Lord Jesus when He commanded, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20) ...

Jesus said to his disciples: “Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him.” John 14:23 Do you want our Lord to come to you and dwell within the depths of your soul? Presumably the answer is an easy “Yes.” The way to make this happen is to love God and keep His word. When yo…

Romans 11:7-10 — The passages in Scripture that refer to God hardening someone’s heart or blinding them to the truth can be confusing. This can be a troubling passage and topic for many people because it often leads to more questions than answers. In this two part series, Jonny Ardavanis is going to discuss the power of the tongue. Romans 11:1-6 — In this sermon on Romans 11:1-6 titled “According to Grace,” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones focuses on how this is relevant to the present time. He teaches about…

“As the Father loves me, so I also love you.” John 15:9 There are three beautiful insights we should take from this passage. First, the love of the Father for the Son is perfect in every way. It is unconditional and all-consuming. It’s total and selfless. In receiving the Father’s love, Jesus receives all He needs. Second, the love Jesus receives f…

After several passages concerning the fate of the Jewish nation, in this sermon on Romans 11:1–4 titled “Did God Reject His People?” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones unfolds how Paul asks this question and then follows his answers with several pieces of evidence.
