Calvary the Hill started as a prayer meeting in a small studio apartment on Capitol Hill the summer of 2010. Since then we have met in living rooms, bars, dance studios, warehouses to worship Jesus, learn about his grace through studying the Bible, love one another and serve our neighbors. We currently meet in a 100+ year old church building on the back side of Cal Anderson Park every Sunday at 10 am and 6pm, and we also gather in smaller groups throughout the week.

Looking into Johns letter to the Ephesians in Revelations we see where Jesus tells them that they've got some good things about them but that they have lost their first love. That being how their love for God filled them with fire. We have to be careful to not let our fires burn low and lose our fervor to be good disciples. Frank Spalding and the p…

Today, we explored the concept of "A Hill to Die On," a phrase that signifies standing firm on a principle or belief, even at great personal cost. This idiom, rooted in military strategy, symbolizes the importance of holding one's ground, especially when it comes to matters of faith and doctrine. In our modern context, it often refers to the variou…

Today, we delved into John 5:1-17, a passage that vividly illustrates the transformative power of Jesus Christ. The story centers around a man who had been an invalid for 38 years, lying by the pool of Bethesda, hoping for a miracle. In today's youth-led service, we explored the theme of authenticity in our Christian walk, especially in the context of a world dominated by social media. We began by acknowledging the unchanging and unfailing nature of God, contrasting it with the fallibility of humans and the transient nature of societal trends. Reflecting on my own youth, I note…

What keeps people out of the Kingdom of God? Mistakes? Pride? Continual sinning? No, there are plenty of examples in Jesus’ ministry of people who did all of those things and more but were forgiven and accepted into the kingdom.
