Less Than Expected is a Sludge Punk/Hardrock band from Ashtabula, Ohio. Less Than Expected’s origin began in 1998 in the small town of Dade City, Florida. The then punk rock trio was the brainchild of Martin Dunn (vocalist/guitarist of The Kimota Bombs) who went on to ignore the name for the better part of 20-years. In 2018, when The Kimota Bombs went on hiatus, Martin decided to break out his trusty Martin D-15, make some jokes about “playing with himself” and start writing new material to bring to life this new version of “Less Than Expected”. After doing a series of acoustic gigs, Martin brought in fellow Kimota Bomb member and friend, Dirt T. Manning to play bass, and recruited Tyler Kuhn as a second guitarist. Borrowing drummers Brie Tart (Kimota Bombs), Tommy Lipo (Mallory Run) and Kenny Sutton (Slaughter in the Meridian) they band began playing shows around North Eastern Ohio. With their debut EP in the works, Martin recruited Justin Thompson to take on drumming duties full time. The band released a series of demos “SuperFuzz/BigMuff”, “Old Pain” and a cover of Nirvana’s “Scoff” to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Nirvana’s debut album “Bleach”. The project is inspired by a mixture of Punk, grunge, Sludge, Noise and Hard Rock bands.
