Is it your efforts or fate that decide whether you are rich or poor? RTHK's program 'Rich Mate, Poor Mate I & II' is a reality show documentary which tries to explore the economic gap between the rich and the poor in Hong Kong. This program put wealthy people in the shoes of the poor, with our film crew closely following them around the clock to see their experience of poverty. They include prominent tycoons, company CEO and offspring of famous magnates to live in cage houses, work low pay and long-hour jobs, sleep on the street in summer and winter, and experience cross-generation poverty. Is there really a pattern behind who will succeed and who will fail? Is it your efforts or fate or the social policies that decide whether you are rich or poor?
