Welcome to the trailer for Central Coast Stories, a podcast telling stories of people who live on the Central Coast of NSW. I am your host and producer of this podcast, Kayleen Bell.I am a journalist, audio producer and storyteller, who grew up on the Central Coast, moved around a bit, and then during the Covid 19 pandemic returned to live here.I have always loved listening to people’s stories, and sharing them, way before I had a microphone in my hand. My insatiable curiosity and constant questioning didn’t always serve me well in school, but I love that these two attributes are so important in finding interesting people and telling their stories.I believe everyone has many stories to tell, if only people will take the time to ask questions, and listen. I also firmly believe you don’t have to be famous to have a story worth hearing, as I find all people are interesting, if given the time to talk.During the Covid pandemic one of the things I missed most was getting out with my microphone and sitting down for a chat with people face to face. It has already brought me so much joy to return to this, and I hope you get similar joy as you listen.Sometimes my guests may be famous, or well-known, but mostly they will be every day locals, just people living on the Central Coast. Episodes will usually be interview style but occasionally as a story demands it, and my time allows it, they will be more of an audio feature style.I also believe in giving conversations room to breathe, to go off on tangents, to share emotions and feelings but most importantly to not be limited to a few quotes on a written page.Lastly, the episodes will shortly be released on itunes, and then I encourage you and hope that you will press the subscribe button, which is free, but will let you know when new episodes are ready. As this is not my only podcast, and I have other work, episodes will drop as soon as I can produce them. Subscribing will mean you won’t miss an episode, and you can also follow me on Twitter @C_Coast_Stories where episodes will be promoted there. Email centralcoaststories@gmail.comThank you in advance to all my guests for trusting me with your stories, and for you, the crucial listener, who will take time out of your busy life to listen. Thank you.
