Jessica Angel is a New York-based artist whose large scale installations are inspired by astronomy, architecture and the underlying structural patterns between these varying fields. Jessica recently finished a massive installation that covered 9,000 square-feet of surface during a 12-week teaching residency at the Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts in conjunction with the University of Alabama's department of Art and Art History in Birmingham. This project was achieved as an art studio class that explored the exhibition as a platform for integrated education and art production around the study of architecture and science. In 2016 Jessica completed the Studios at MASS MoCA residency and developed two large projects with 516 Arts where she was the recipient of the VAN Residency. She did a solo exhibition at the School of Visual Arts’ CP Projects Space, and in 2014 presented a solo project at the AC institute in New York. Jessica has been awarded the Teaching-Artist Residency at The Cooper Union, the BRIC Media Arts Fellowship, and created a project for the Brooklyn Arts Council Arts Consultancy Program. She currently lives in Brooklyn and teaches at the Bronx Museum of the Arts and Groundswell as a contractual educator. Her work has been exhibited across the Americas.
