I både USA og Storbritannien debatteres, om hvor skylden for fiaskoen i Irak ligger. Men hvad var det egentlig, der gik galt? I et forsøg på at få et svar, gav Frank Esmann sidste år ordet til dem, der kæmpede og dem der senere prøvede at analysere sig frem til hvad der skete. Det blev til serien "Arven efter krigen" som nu genudsendes.
