During times of excessive heat like we are experiencing today, we worry about the elderly and those with chronic disease. But as the number of days with excessive heat continue, the risk can dramatically increase. This is because many people in this group take a variety of medications and if they get dehydrated or confused they can stop taking their medications or take incorrect doses. This is why it is so important to look in on elderly relatives or neighbors. It is critical that the elderly stay well hydrated and cool especially as the days of excessive heat continue.
