“The Great Flood that Covered the Earth”

1. The world after the door of the ark was closed
* Matthew 6:33 “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (NIV)
* Matthew 24:38 “For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark.” (NIV)
2. The great flood that covered the entire world
* Genesis 7:19 “greatly” = extremely
* Psalm 104:6 “You covered it with the watery depths as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains.” (NIV)
* Job 12:15 “If he holds back the waters, there is drought; if he lets them loose, they devastate the land.” (NIV)
* Luke 17:27 “People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.” (NIV)
3. The flood in the days of Noah was a sign of God’
* Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” (NIV)
* 2 Peter 3:3-13 (Reference)
* 2 Peter 3:10 “But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.” (NIV)
* 2 Peter 3:12 “as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat.” (NIV)
“heavens” = Sutoikeiya (in Greek) “components of the natural world”
Thoughts to share at mini church:
1. Are you putting things in your “jar” (limited time) starting with those that are most important?
2. How do we know that the flood in the days of Noah was something of a global scale?
3. How does the Bible prophesy that the end of the world will be?
