《了凡四訓》是我接觸佛法第一本念的書，它對我的影響非常之大，可以說影響了我一生。我非常愛好這部書，常常讀誦，也講過不少遍。
了凡先生，姓袁，名黃，字坤儀，江南吳江縣人。生於明世宗嘉靖十四年，公元一五三五年，距今有五百多年。
我們觀察了凡先生一生，改過自新也是相當辛苦的事情，特別是前二十年。到了晚年，功夫成熟了，斷惡修善愈來愈容易。
