After many years of nursing and teaching, Annette decided that telling stories was a powerful tool and a metaphor for learning, and healing. When she retired from her position at Aoraki Polytechnic she commenced a new role as a Professional Storyteller. She was supported in this by the New Zealand Guild of Storytellers, of which she later became President. Within the role of Storytelling came the added advantage of writing her own stories, and enhancing a positive message. For six years she was privileged to be able to hone her skills in both writing and telling by having a small business called ‘Twilight Tales’ in Oamaru. Her stories have also been printed in the local Oamaru newspaper, The Oamaru Mail. Annette’s stories have been crafted for the EAR, rather than the Eye. Therefore they are shorter and sparser, with the objective of stimulating the listener’s imagination. Indulge your ears on 'WORDWEAVER' every Tuesday at 11pm
