The G-League came close last year, with then top high school prospects LaMelo Ball and RJ Hampton considering a season in the NBA’s developmental league before opting to spend their “1 and done” seasons in Australia’s NBL. This time around the G-League scored, signing the top high school prospect in the class of 2020 - Jalen Green of Napa’s Prolific Prep - to a deal that makes him the first participant in a one-year program outside of the minor league’s traditional team structure focused on preparing Green for the NBA. With help from ESPN’s The Undefeated Senior NBA writer, Marc Spears, we discuss why Green chose to pass up a year of college hoop, how his decision impacts the NCAA, and what it means for the conversation about the NBA’s minimum age limit moving forward.
