In today’s episode, we reached out to four diagnostic experts across the United States to share their experiences in bringing on SARS-CoV-2 testing in their laboratories. We asked them to share the biggest challenge they faced and also share one thing with the listeners of Computationally Yours that isn’t common knowledge about this testing. Dr. Sabah Kadri takes our listeners through some basics of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) testing and lays out these unique challenges from our guests. Thank you to our guests: Dr. Karen Kaul (Chair of Pathology and Lab Medicine Northshore Univ Health System), Dr. Eric Konnick (Assistant Professor, Associate Director - Genetics and Solid Tumor Laboratory, Director - Genetics Pre-analytical Services at the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology University of Washington), Dr. Julie Woolworth Hirschhorn (Assistant Professor, Associate Director Molecular Pathology at Medical University of South Carolina) and an unnamed molecular pathologist at a large hospital in Texas.
