What I've learned is to set expectations and that there are only a few people you can call true friends. From a young age I've always struggled with maintaining friendships. When I was in grade school, it seemed that I was always changing and molding myself to satisfy the friends I had. Whether it was taking interest in their hobbies, or changing the way I dressed, and music I listened to. It took me until college to come into my own, and even still creating strong friendships wasn't any easier for me. To be honest it's only been in the last few years of my life that I've been able to create some strong friendships, that I feel will last a long time. And even some of those have had their difficulties, and didn't last. What I've learned is that it's important to set expectations, understand what each party wants or needs from the friendship. We also need to recognize that life changes, situations change and that it might make it harder to keep in touch. When that happens a lot of times we feel shame, or guilt, and aren't necessarily able to have the conversations to repair things. All I know is that I now have a few true friends, and that most people that enter your life will be acquaintances. I'm doing my best to keep those true friends close because we can support and help each other on this journey we call life. For more information on your host Brian Almeida:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/brian-almeida/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thebealmeida/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/brian.almeida.731
