English version

Sue Duguay , la Francophonie - whatever it takes

For this next transatlantic flight, we’re off to the Canadian Francophonie. You may think we’re going to Quebec to meet French-speaking Canadians. But they are not the only ones who speak French in Canada : Franco-Ontarians, Franco-Manitobans, Franco-Albertans, Fransaskois, Franco-Yukonians... and many others … French is mother tongue for 1 out of every 4 (5??) Canadians ! And let’s not forget the many Francophone newcomers from all over the world who settle in Canada every year.

Sue Duguay will be our guide! An Acadienne from New Brunswick, Sue is 21 and already passionate about the Francophone cause. Young and politically astute, she is a powerful voice, speaking up on behalf of her generation and their struggles as Francophones. While she never forgets the “generational traumas” as she puts it, nor the unique rights that exist in her province New Brunswick, today she fights for true Canadian linguistic duality and against linguistic insecurity.

Fasten your seatbelt as we take off for a journey… with a fist in the air!
