After many years believing in its vision of growing a resilient local food system, Mother Earth Food has admittedly experienced some obstacles and hardships. Then 2020 came along with a new set of collective challenges.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began in mid-March, the demand for convenient, local food has increased exponentially. Now on solid ground financially and with a stellar executive team, the company stepped into action to provide more customers with local food delivered to their doorsteps and created viable income options for many affected local vendors. With over 2000 new customers on the waitlist early on in the pandemic, the company skillfully put new systems in place, restructured and added to the team including a new COO, and increased delivery routes from seven to 19. The wait list is now clear, and so far this year, Mother Earth Food has put $1.5 million in the pockets of small businesses and farmers.
Here is our conversation with their CEO, Janelle Tatum. Enjoy!
