Jumping into the Diner with me today is trauma and sexual assault expert, Brittany Piper. Before we got too deep we started out talking about late-night Dairy Queen runs for some blizzards, because, priorities. I then asked how Brittany has found and built her online community and how she made the decision to live her mom-life and sexual assault survivor life out loud. As a new parent myself I was eager to hear her thoughts about what do you share and who do you listen to as new parents. We had a fascinating conversation about what options you have for the afterbirth/placenta of your child. I appreciate Brittany being open about the choices she made despite it being different from what Tina and I decided. We then switched gears and jumped into the science of how we carry and store trauma in our bodies. Brittany discussed when should we share our trauma and with whom. Brittany shared her 4 “P’s” of purposing your pain. We ended by discussing sexual violence and I asked what men can do to play a bigger role in conversations around eradicating sexual violence.

.
