兒童繪本作家孫心瑜的著作不少，其中的《背影》是本以圖為主，沒有文字，我們也許經常關注身邊的景致，卻往往忽略身邊的親人，我們也許對社會上的議題相當熱衷，卻對家人的變化毫無感知，那看見或看不見的背影，述說著無限的情感。另外一本《酒釀》中描述的香甜酒釀，形容母親的手藝幻化無窮和慈愛。心瑜老師觀察一切生活環境，一筆一筆的畫出她想帶來她心中的世界。「追尋異己熱愛的夢想，找到對的路。」
尤其《背影》出版時，一群韓國人教華文的老師，特別表示：「雖然背影沒有文字卻能從圖片中讀出故事與情感」。在2015年《北京遊》這本書得獎，是給新與老師繼續畫下去的動力。新與老師也談到因為繪本畫家，需要多閱讀以及觀察，若能夠細細品味周遭的生活，故事的內容就不予匱乏。當然繪本作家孫心瑜老師也談到想要成為兒童文學作家的條件，以及心瑜老師未來的規劃。
