Season 3 - Young Black and Widowed with Azurae Johnson Redmond. Azurae joins us from all the way from Tennessee to talk about her experience of suddenly becoming young and widowed by lung cancer. In this episode Azure shares her story of how she started her journey of widowhood with a toddler on her hip whilst being 5 month pregnant. Three years later, Azure used her pain to birth purpose by starting the ‘Young Black and Widowed Inc’ not for profit in her late husbands memory. The key themes we discuss - the stigma of being a single black mom, moving forward where there is no longer a road map and embracing those special memories. Azure provides support via 'Young Black and Widowed Inc’ not for profit to those who are young black and widowed in the US but also the pandemic and apps such as clubhouse has allowed this support to span world wide, where she provides support for those who are on this journey of widowhood.
