Welcome to this week's Podcasts where I speak to Carol Harris who is the author of Networking for Success 2nd Edition about her book.

Over the last 30 years she has taught vital business skills to help business grow. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personal Development and a Council Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Consultants. Carol was also a Director of the Arts Council of Great Britain.

Today Carol is an author, corporate trainer and thriving international networking marketing business.

Why did Carol write a second edition of this book, because networking has changed during Covid19 including with online networking. The book is told in a story format that is easy to understand.

Why does Carol believe networking is important for business.

- Have a clear goal in mind: Understand what you want to achieve from your networking efforts and work towards that. - Be selective: Not every event or group will be beneficial for you. Choose those that align with your interests and professional goals. - Follow-up is key: Remember, often the fortune lies in following up on contacts made during networking events. - Speak within your comfort zone: Discuss topics that you're confident about. This can help make conversations flow more naturally. - Be prepared: Know what you want to talk about before attending an event or meeting. Pick two to three main points for discussion. - Stay calm and composed: Take a moment to breathe if needed. It's better to pause than rush through a conversation. - Ask questions: They can stimulate discussions and show your interest in others' perspectives. - Listen actively: Networking isn't just about talking; listening is equally important.

Establish a point of contact so you can follow up and learn more about the person and their business.
