On April 20th 2021 ,a jury in Minnesota found Derek Chauvin Guilty on three counts of murdering George Floyd. It is the first time in Minnesota history that a police officer has been found guilty of the murder of a black man. While it is history, it is not justice. It is overdue accountability and the very first steps to a change that African Americans have been fighting for. This horrific murder sent shockwaves around the world and sparked the largest protests we have seen since the civil rights movement.
This meditative reflection is a space to breathe and be still. The pandemic year that kept us in our homes also allowed a stillness that enabled us to witness this moment.
