Manage episode 316438165 series 3288470
What is the meaning of life? Existentialist thinkers tell us that there isn't one- you need to make one for yourself. Existentialism is a philosophical movement that concerns itself with the meaning of existence, and how we can find an essence, even though 'Existence Precedes Essence.'

On this episode we talk to Wimarshana Wijesuriya, an author, thinker, poet and philosopher, about the history of existentialism, different existential thinkers, and how we can apply existential thinking to our day-to-day lives. We also talk about a crisis of meaning in modern day Sri Lanka, and what existentialism can tell us about the Sri Lankan political atmosphere.
