Sub-Lieutenant Tahlia Britton joined the Irish Naval Service in 2014, however by that point she was no stranger to the sea. She grew up beside the ocean in Rossnowlagh, County Donegal, and competed with the Irish surfing team from 2004-2012. This past summer, she completed the 11 week Combined Diving course to become the first female diver in the Irish Navy. The course typically has a 70% drop-out rate and of the original 10 who started her course, only 3 finished. She is the current Gunnery Officer on LÉ James Joyce.
