Welcome back to The Blurred Line podcast!

This week we've got my friend, Carolinne Hanaoka. Carolinne and I used to attend the same university and internship. She's a fully ethnic nikkei Japanese, raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil as a 3rd generation Brazilian, and moved to Tokyo, Japan in middle school. We go on to talk about a variety of subjects ranging from her experiences growing up as an ethnic Japanese in Brazil, to her experience growing up in Japan with the heart and mind of a Brazilian. Among other things, we also talked about the feeling of isolation being a foreigner, the history of the Japanese diaspora (nikkeijin), and how difficult it is to apply for a Japanese citizenship, even as a nikkeijin. I might have tried to convert her to BJJ in the end too hahaha

Thanks for listening guys! If you have any feedback, both positive and negative, please let me know. I'm having fun doing it, but I want you to enjoy the experience as well!
