In this episode, Diane Bao shares information about how games can be used to improve science and health research.

The GENIGMA app has been available on iOS and Android since January 2022, and this is an innovative way for players to solve puzzles that will help scientists understand the genomic reference maps of cell lines, which are often used in cancer research. One disadvantage of cell line research is a lack of these genomic maps. AI can model these genomic maps of a cell line’s history, but the process is even better with human input, hence why the GENIGMA app exists. The more people solve puzzles on the app, the easier it will be to decode the reference map of different cell lines.
