In this series, we’ll move our discussion towards on-the-ground topics about nature-based solutions (NbS). NbS are “actions to protect, sustainably manage, and restore natural or modified ecosystems, that address societal challenges effectively and adaptively, simultaneously providing human well-being and biodiversity benefits” (International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), 2016). In theory, NbS host many opportunities for nature, climate and communities. In practice, many organisations have shared serious concerns about everything from lack of legal structure to corporate dominance in the space (vs. community-led) to land left and more.
