Being able to catch the mood of the moment and respond effectively for the good of the group
Groupthink is a very powerful thing, in fact there is a great deal of social psychological research that proves that people will behave in line with the group, rather than stand out from the crowd
We see it in churches all the time. There is a mood among the congregation and if the pastor/ leader/ elders misjudge that mood it can create all kinds of problems.
