Our guest for the opening episode of season 5 of My Favourite Elliott Smith Song is Ruth Radelet.
Ruth is a musician based in Portland, Oregon, who has recently started a solo career, after a long and successful stint with the band, Chromatics, a group she joined back in 2006. One of her first releases as a solo artist was, in fact, a cover of Twilight by Elliott Smith, which she recorded for the 30th anniversary celebration of the record label, Kill Rock Stars.
In this interview we talk about that cover, why Ruth wanted to do that song in particular and what it means to her. As an added bonus, the conversation was recorded at New Monkey Studio in Los Angeles, California and we're very grateful to Greg, Robert and Joel for allowing us to use the space, and for being such great supporters of the podcast.
