Many races have been stopped early due to poor weather but few have the drama that the 1975 Austrian Grand Prix had as Vittorio Brambilla won and spun in the rain. Here’s the story of how the Monza gorilla roared and then slipped to victory.


Link to classic teams with Joe. Between the high average speed, elevation and threat of rain in the Styrian hills, the Austrian Grand Prix is one of the classic venues for a chaotic race. Surprise Austrian GP wins are a common factor with Joe’s retro teams, with March in 1975 and Penske in ‘76, and this week he’s made it a hattrick with the winners from 1977, Shadow.
