Ep4 - Paul's Case
Manage episode 340415531 series 3343095
In this episode, we’re exploring the cases of Michael de Guzman of the Philippines and Melissa Caddick of Australia. These two suffered from Paul's case - a malady of riches. They pilfered millions of dollars from unsuspecting investors by creating elaborate smoke screens, and they did so to fund their lavish lifestyles.
On paper, Melissa Caddick seemed to possess a wildly successful investment fund, while Michael de Guzman was managing one of the richest gold mines in the world. We see, however, that they commit their crimes recklessly. They knew an end would one day have to come.
And when the end came, our perpetrators would prefer death over having to answer for their crimes. While some would argue that their deaths were only their final con and that one or both have started life anew.
