Joseph, Gerald Bowman and Javarus McConner discuss the recent acts of kindness in the media regarding student-athletes versus bullies in schools. Athletes of every age can make a positive change in society by becoming aware of their behavior with others, either on their team or in their schools. In the past few weeks there have been videos of athletes showing kindness to kids who have been bullied: in one school, a child was sitting always sitting alone at lunch until a group of football players joined him, a young boy in Florida was bullied by kids in school for participating in their college t-shirt day by making his own University of Tennessee t-shirt on a piece of paper attached to his orange shirt and when the University of Tennessee became aware of the situation, they turned his design into an official t-shirt and the proceeds from the sale of the shirt are going to an anti-bullying group, as well as offering him a 4-year scholarship. And another important story was out of MLK College Prep in Memphis, where a boy was being bullied because he was wearing the same clothes every day because his mom couldn't afford new clothes; student-atheletes noticed how embarrassed he was a collected their own clothes to give to him. There is a ripple effect with kindness that every person involved in sports from the athletes to the coaches and the parents can be a part of to make this society a better place. Imagine the change that you and your student-athlete could make in this world by starting with one person.
