đ§ââď¸ Liver disease can often be tricky to diagnose. Your vet may need to test blood and urine samples and perform liver function tests such as comparing blood collected before and after a meal. Ultrasound or x-rays of the abdomen can help show any liver abnormalities. Liver biopsy can also get very useful information about exactly what the condition is, allowing for more effective and targeted treatment. 𩻠The choice of treatment depends very much on your vetâs diagnosis. Acute liver disease, often requires hospitalization, intravenous fluids (a drip) and sometimes feeding via a tube if your cat is not eating. đż There are many medications for both acute and chronic liver disease patients. Depending on the specific condition, your vet will choose the most appropriate ones to help your cat. But whatever the condition, changing your catâs diet will be an essential part of managing their liver disease.
