I'm interviewing Christine Roberts, author of Inspirational Mind Food, offering 3 actionable steps to teaching kids critical thinking skills and how to be their own advocate and dream defender. This is critical to their success.

From problem solving and becoming your own advocate, to creating community-minded kids and forward thinkers.

Podcast Questions:

  1. In this day and age of raising kids, the culture easily lends itself to giving excuses. We have this Bubble Wrap mentality: Could you discuss the culture today and why there’s need for concern?
  2. What characteristics or traits do our kids need, to navigate successfully in life?
  3. How to create selfless, empathetic humans?

4.. What happens when we do the work for them? How are we sabotaging their potential?

5. What games / exercises do you teach to instill advocacy, instead of calling on parents to help or fix it?

You can't be selfish and giving at the same time. Ideas to giving back to the community to create empathy, selflessness and partnering with those less fortunate.

Teach them to speak for themselves, to encourage them to figure out & solve their own problem – critical thinking

Empower and coach them to push through difficulties, don’t save them. We don’t want them hurt, to take risks, to feel heartbreak, rejection or pain. And yet all of this is inevitable and needed, in order to survive in this world. There’s value in a skinned knee.

Boundaries, the Art of Saying No.

We want to raise good humans who demonstrate kindness, who lift up another.

Amy Carney, Parent On Purpose (we talk about her book)
