Today on the podcast, we are grateful to have Former Chelan Boys Basketball Coach Joe Harris Sr. on with us today.

Harris spent 31 years on the varsity bench at two different high schools. He was at Bridgeport for 5 years and 25 years at Chelan. Harris has a 516-260 career record, with a Class 1A State Championship in 1998. Eight of his teams claimed state trophies.

In 2011, Harris was inducted into the WIBCA Hall-of-Fame. He has been involved in the Association for many years and is currently the President of the Association as well as the Director of the Spring Coaches Clinic held annually in Lake Chelan.

Coach Harris has been married for 35 years to his wife Alice and they have four children, Kaiti, Joe, Jaicee, and Mackenzie.

Coach currently teaches PE and High School Strength & Conditioning at Chelan Middle/High School.

Coach’s other highlights include:

· 1998 WIBCA State 1A Basketball Coach of the Year

· 2002 WIBCA State 2A Coach of the Year

· 7 District/Regional Championships

· 13 League Titles

· 13 State Basketball Appearances

· 11-time Coach of the Year

· 1998 Outstanding Educator from the Chelan Valley Masons

· 2013 SHAPE WA Middle School PE Teacher of the Year

Coach Harris’s son Joe will be entering his 6th season in the NBA for the Brooklyn Nets…Joe scored 2,399 career points in his time at Chelan (2006-2010).
