like the earth,

my fault lines visible,

my weathered,

my blossoming full,

ready for you to explore

and do with what you will.

Come to me as you are,

with your ugliness

and corrupt thoughts,

your anger, your shame,

bare it all, flesh and beyond,

be all you are, be real.

I’ll open my soul’s dark corners

so you can see all my failings

and neurosis, my half buried rage.

There will be no maudlin

romance, no dead roses,

we won’t say all the right things,

at all the right times,

we’ll fuck all conventions.

Let’s not try to be pretty

and perfect, that’s for kids.

We’re veterans, we can be

raw and messy, recklessly passionate,

we can build a love fueled

by honesty and clear-sightedness

We can risk ruining ourselves

loving vulnerably, wildly,

never holding back,

loving purely like savages.
