For this episode we made a site visit - a first for us. We spoke to Michael Breakey and Devon Goodrich who host and manage the Rotherhithe Shed, but also to some of the people who had popped in that afternoon to make, mend, paint and chat. Rotherhithe Shed, just south of the River Thames, was set up by Time & Talents and London Bubble Theatre Company, and is based in Bubble's large workshop. The Shed provides a space for older adults to put their practical skills to good use – fixing, making, whittling, drilling, sawing and tinkering, to learn new skills and to connect with each other. They are part of the wider association, Men's Sheds, initially set up to meet the needs of older men, who were much less likely to join groups and activities than women. There are Sheds all over the world - they are amazing spaces.
