Happy New Year! Who doesn’t love this time of year? It’s filled with fun, games, traveling, and of course, canceled flights! If you stayed home over the holidays, you missed quite the show! All over the nation, travelers were preparing for this huge winter storm blanketing half the country with freezing temperatures. Cities all over were hit hard with extreme temperatures. Florida experienced 30° lows for the first time in decades! Residents of Buffalo, NY became trapped in snow. And the Texas power grid, well, it did it’s thing. With all this, you would think the airlines would be ready. Nope! Fortunately some, like Delta, were back up and running within the day. Unfortunately, for travelers with Soutwest Airlines, one of the largest airlines around and the biggest culprit of the week, the company CEO decided to cancel over 15,000 flights within 5 Days! Nicky Trendz tried making sense of it. In a short rant, she’ll tell you how this problem has been 20 years in the making. With 3 vastly different CEO appointed in the last 2 decades and an ancient operating system, it was bound to fail!
