Ep #268 Frank Dimaio Talks About How He Overcame The Death Of His Spouse Of 15 Years, How To Overcome Negative Self Talk & Survivors Grief
Manage episode 353865709 series 2086561
Frank holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Providence College, his Doctorate
from New York Chiropractic College, and a Master of Science degree from Troy State
University. He also participated in a postgraduate diplomate program in neurology. After a
successful practice as a chiropractic physician for over a decade, a freak accident forced him
to give up his practice.
Born and raised in Rhode Island, he grew up in the restaurant business. This engendered a
strong work ethic and a love of food, so all of Frank’s works of fiction have eating scenes. Now
leaning toward vegetarianism, he is obsessed with kale.
His current book, A Promise Made A Promise Kept, subtitled A Husbands Journey Through
Journaling To Heal The Loss Of His Spouse.
It is a nonfiction story about his and his wife’s rollercoaster ride during her treatment for breast
cancer. His emotional decline from survivor’s grief after her passing away from this insidious
disease in 2004.
He shares his journey and offers advice and guidance to other husbands stuck in the rabbit
hole of survivors’ grief. How a Christmas gift in 2006 offered guidance and changed his lack
mentality from grief; by taking positive steps and using reinforcing vocabulary to offset the
depressing influence of negative words on his subconscious mind.
His next book on the power of healing words and getting to the balance of life’s wheel is based
on his years in practice and journaling discussed in A Promise Made, A Promise Kept. His
experience with grief and journaling has opened opportunities to teach others how positive
words can elevate a person, improve their health, and help other spouses of breast cancer
patients find peace in their journey.
