In today's episode (our eighth!), the trio re-convenes to pore over the details of the sports history of March 1st throughout the last century or so. We'll discuss the retirements of two of mid-20th century America's greatest sports legends - Joe Louis and Mickey Mantle - and where both men sit in the pantheon of their respective sports' inner circle all-time greats. We also talk about Rick Pitino and other college basketball coaches who have...ahem...struggled...in the NBA; Elvis Stojko's legendary performance on this date and whether or not a legendary story about him and Eric Lindros really happened; the roof of an almost brand new NHL/NBA arena that blew off and a broadcaster who got thrown out of a game he was actually calling at the time. We (again) try to remind Canucks fans that their team was once pretty good, Sugar Ray Leonard keeps it classy, Phil Esposito breaks through a glass ceiling, Chris Webber's legacy, Yolanda Griffith's incredible career and the rehabilitation and incredible luck of 'Hollywood' Henderson after his NFL career flamed out. On top of all that, MLB.com writer and baseball lifer Alyson Footer joins the show to evaluate this week's DORK DRAFT of the best five-tool baseball players not in the Hall of Fame. You'd be hard-pressed to jam more sports edutainment into just one hour!!!
