Today’s topic: The Five Blind Boys of Alabama - Walk With Me.
Walk with me dear Lord
Walk with me
Walk with me dear Lord
Walk with me
Oh Lord on this tedious journey
I want Jesus to walk with me …
I heard that song on the AM station. Seems like it was the AM 1010 station WELS in Kinston NC - Andy & the HotFoot Club if I’m not mistaken. I remember him playing old songs & old sermons. I think it was in the 1990s. But I never knew the name of the group that sang the song. I searched high & I searched low, & your know old songs like that by singing groups can be hard to find.
I asked myself, “ Is it the Five Blind Boys of Mississippi?” But it was not them. I knew it had to be an old group that had been singing for years. I asked myself, “How about the Five Blind Boys of Alabama?” Sure enough it was them.
For some reason, I love the way they sing Jesus Walk With Me. The style sounds like country gospel. I love the instruments and how the band put the music together for the song. It sounds like a prayer, and I do need Jesus to walk with me. How about you? The Five Blind Boys of Alabama has done a great job singing Jesus Walk With Me.
The group was founded in 1939 in Talladega Alabama. The group enjoyed even further exposure and success in 2000s. The Blind Boys of Alabama performed “Free At Last” at the White House on Feb. 9, 2010. In 2010, the Blind Boys were inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame.
I’m Gail Nobles, & You’re listening to a show about the Gospel Greats. Today’s topic: The Five Blind Boys of Alabama - Walk With Me.
