This week I spoke with former professional Flat Racing Jockey, Fran Berry from Kilcullen, Co. Kildare who has over 1000 race wins in Ireland and has won races from The Curragh, Royal Ascot to Tokyo.

Fran talked about his first win at 15 years old, winning as a jumps jockey on Ladies Day at Aintree, the camaraderie of the unique environment of the jockeys weighing room, superstitions, the favourite horse he has worked with?, working under Mick Kinane and always learning.

He talked about the most challenging times in his career, dealing with pressure, setting routines for himself, career injuries, and an accident at Wolverhampton that caused him to retire in 2019- how he dealt with this?

Today he has transitioned to working in media, writing columns and working with Racing TV. He also spoke about upcoming projects and plans.

Thanks, Fran for, allowing me into your world and offering your unique insight into your world of racing, and as always to the listeners, remember you are always welcome here on Hartelines.
