A new rule has been passed by the U.S. Department of Energy that will affect the pool/spa industry. The DOE regulations are aimed at lamps that emit between 310 and 3,300 lumens. The regulation is performance-oriented and in line with the agency's recent release of Energy Conservation Standards for General Service Lamps, which are designed to manage energy consumption across various applications and industries. We chat with Ben Forrest of PAL Lighting to try and understand these new Department of Energy lighting regulations that are coming and down and learn how they will impact distributors, retailers, and pool contractors.
