Er war als Richter tätig, arbeitete einige Jahre beim Bundesverfassungsgericht in Karlsruhe, wurde Präsident des Verwaltungsgerichts Gießen, später Präsident des Verwaltungsgerichts in Frankfurt/Main und ist seit 2002 ebenfalls Honorarprofessor an der Justus-Liebig-Universität in Gießen. Seit 2013 ist er als Rechtsanwalt zugelassen und arbeitet als Mediator und Konfliktmanager im privaten und öffentlichen Bereich.“.
