Saint Constantine the Great was Roman Emperor from 306-337, and one of the most consequential of the entire history of the empire. He was the first Christian emperor, and under his edict of Milan Christianity became a tolerated religion in the Roman Empire, ending three centuries of persecution. He also called the council of Nicaea, which clarified the divinity and humanity of Christ.
