Dawn Brookes is an award winning author who write three series of cozy crime mysteries. The Rachel Prince Mysteries, combine a unique blend of murder, cruising and medicine with a touch of romance. She is also author of the Carlos Jacobi crime series, the first of which won the Readers' Favorite gold medal award for crime fiction, and the Lady Marjorie Snellthorpe Mystery series.

Dawn holds an MA in Creative Writing with Distinction and has a 39-year nursing pedigree. She loves to travel and takes regular cruise holidays, which she says are for research purposes! She brings these passions and a love of clean crime to her writing.

The surname of her Rachel Prince protagonist is in honour of her childhood dog, Prince, who used to put his head on her knee while she lost herself in books.

Author of the Hurry up Nurse series the first of which include memoirs of nurse training in the 1970s, the second is about her time in London and the third is set in Berkshire. Dawn worked as a hospital nurse, midwife, district nurse and community matron across her career. Before turning her hand to writing for a living, she had multiple articles published in professional journals and co-edited a nursing textbook.

She grew up in Leicester, later moved to London and Berkshire, but now lives in Derbyshire. Dawn holds a Bachelor's degree with Honours and a Master's degree in education. Her writing is now well and truly focussing on cozy crime and she has developed a huge following in the genre. Dawn has a passion for nature and loves animals, especially dogs. Animals will continue to feature in her children's books, as she believes caring for animals and nature helps children to become kinder human beings.
