Welcome to today’s episode of To Psychology and Beyond where we are delighted to welcome Associate Professor Evan Livesey who is joining us today to talk about his experiences as an undergraduate student, his vast research experience examining the mechanisms responsible for learning and attention, his career trajectory and what he wished he knew when he was a bright-eyed bushy tailed first-year undergraduate student himself.

Associate Professor Livesey works in the School of Psychology at the University of Sydney where he also graduated with a Bachelor of Science with an Honours in Psychology before completing his PhD at the University of Cambridge in Experimental Psychology in 2007.

Associate Professor Livesey’s research focuses on the mechanisms responsible for learning, attention, and cognitive control - and within this broad area, he has specific interests in associative learning mechanisms in humans and other animals, the relationship between learning and visual attention in humans, and how learning is influenced by conscious knowledge, reasoning, and executive control.
