Hello everyone and welcome to the History of Scotland, Episode 28.
Now rather than move our story swiftly to Alexander I, I have decided I want to tell the tale of the First Crusade as it's a giant moment in medieval history and a tale I really would like to tell.
So please indulge me whilst I begin this tale and I promise we will return back to our story after this three part special.
In today's episode we begin the first part of our tale, “The People's Crusade”. The rather less known story of the First Crusade, a story’s conclusion that nearly derailed the entire First Crusade before it ever properly began.
So let us begin with the return back to the Council of Clermont in 1095.
