Die Hauptschule bietet eine praktische und berufsorientierte Bildung für Schüler bis zum Alter von 16 oder 18 Jahren. Die Realschule bereitet Schüler auf verschiedene berufliche Wege vor. Ein Gymnasium bereitet auf das Abitur vor und ermöglicht den Zugang zur Hochschulbildung. Eine Gesamtschule kombiniert verschiedene Bildungswege und -niveaus. Eine Berufsschule vermittelt praktisches Wissen und Fähigkeiten in verschiedenen Berufsfeldern.
